ASE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN

This fast-paced automotive repair facility is looking for a qualified applicant to come aboard. We are growing and need a GOOD technician to come aboard with us. We are looking for someone that has good qualifications as an ASE certified lead technician.
JOB DESCRIPTION
ASE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN
Promotes Shop by presenting professional image, positive attitude, and clean work area. The lead technician must have the ability to direct and make recommendations to other mechanics. You will be providing automotive diagnosing, inspections, repairs and services all according to ASE quality and time standards. You will work closely with the service writer. You must be efficient in the use of computers to look up service information and part availability. You must be able to use a scan tool when needed. You must be able to follow industry safety rules and regulations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
• Understand customers’ concerns.
• Diagnose problems.
• Suggest the work that is needed to the service writer so the customer may be informed.
• Communicate with service writer to make an estimate for the customer to approve.
• Collects all necessary information before requesting parts.
• Delegates the duties when necessary
• Notifies service writer of possible delays.
• Completes service and repair assignments correctly to pass quality inspections.
• Road tests vehicles to ensure repairs are completed properly.
• Provides clear and legible record of service for invoicing.

It is very important to work as a team and promote a productive working relationship with others, actively listen to concerns; takes action to respond to others’ needs. Has an approachable style; fosters open communication through active listening. Additional duties and responsibilities: Assists service writer, if necessary, to explain completed repairs to a customer, assists other technicians when needed, listens to and supports new ideas and approaches, adapts to change quickly, successfully performs overlapping tasks.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
This includes understanding the importance of serving the customer and anticipating their needs, being a “self-starter”, consistently achieving or exceeding goals, showing concern for all aspects of the job, monitoring activities over time and following ethical standards set by the company, working effectively with and can make deductive reasoning decisions. Focuses on valuing teamwork, managing problem solving, and making decisions. This includes re-evaluating priorities and re-organizing workload to meet demands, identifying problems, determining relationship between “cause” and “effect” and examining information from different sources to formulate the best course of action.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years’ experience in automotive repair and tech schooling or 10+ years without schooling. Your own tools are required to perform repairs, specialty tools are supplied by the shop. High School degree or equivalent preferred. Must have valid driver’s license in good standing.
Must have ASE certification in the following areas or equivalent:
• Engine Repair
• Steering
• Brakes
• Electrical
• Heating & A/C
• Engine Performance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: WORKING CONDITIONS:
Moving about the shop to complete auto service and repair. A tech must have good vision.
using hand and or power tools and equipment consistent with industry standards and be able to use a computer to look up information, read instructions for repair. standing for 8 hours in a shift, bending, stretching, lifting, reaching, and climbing, utilizing physical and manual dexterity, lifting to 70 lbs., Must not have any issues with noise, vibration, painting materials, fuel, oils, grease, dust, exhaust fumes or other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
EMPLOYMENT INFO
Wages will depend on experience & education. Typical workdays are Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. With a lunch break (1 hr. ). Emergency after hours work is possible.
